What I collect, what I do with it, and how to ask me to delete it.
Who I am
I’m Joe Wapshott, a sole trader based in the United Kingdom, operating under my own name. I print and post these walking books myself. I’m the data controller for everything described below; you can reach me at hello@fromyourdoor.com.
What I collect
When you try the free demo I take only the postcode you type into the input. Nothing else — no cookies, no fingerprint, no email. The demo is anonymous.
If you place an order, I additionally collect:
- Your name and email address (for delivery updates and proof of purchase)
- The recipient’s name (printed on the cover)
- The recipient’s delivery address (so I can post the book to them)
- Payment information — handled entirely by Stripe; I never see card numbers
What I do with it
I use it to render the book against the recipient’s postcode, send it to my printer, and post it on. That’s the whole reason any of it exists. I do not run marketing email, I do not build an audience, and I do not sell or share any of it for commercial purposes.
Who else sees it
To get the book onto a doorstep I have to share specific bits with three other parties:
- Stripe — for taking payment. They are the data controller for card details; I never store them.
- Mixam (my UK printer) — receives the rendered PDF and the recipient’s delivery address.
- Royal Mail — receives the recipient’s address on the parcel itself.
Anthropic processes the postcode briefly when generating walk descriptions for the book. They do not retain it for training.
OpenStreetMap is anonymous — the routing data flows from them to me, not the other way round.
How long I keep it
The free-demo postcode lives in a server cache for two weeks, then it’s gone. The cache exists so a second visitor asking about the same address gets a sub-second answer rather than a fresh render.
For paid orders, I keep the order details for six years. I have to — HMRC requires sole traders to retain transactional records for that long. After six years it gets deleted.
Your rights
You have the right to ask me what I hold about you, to correct it if it’s wrong, to ask me to delete it (within the limits HMRC imposes on order records), and to ask me to stop processing it. Email hello@fromyourdoor.com with what you’d like and I’ll respond within a working week.
If you’re not happy with my response, you can complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses PostHog — product analytics — to understand how visitors move through the site and where the buying flow gets stuck. Data is hosted in the EU. PostHog sets a first-party cookie (and uses local storage) to recognise the same visitor across pages, and records anonymised session replays of the buying flow with all form inputs masked — I don’t see what you type. No data is shared with advertisers or third-party trackers. Aggregate funnel and channel data (page views, referrers, conversion rate by source) help me understand which pages convert and which don’t.
You can opt out by enabling “Do Not Track” or a tracking blocker in your browser, or by emailing hello@fromyourdoor.com and asking me to delete your data.
